Apprenticeship pathways  in hairdressing

An industry-driven hairdressing pre-apprenticeship program is being designed with South Australian salons to help attract and retain apprentices across the sector.

Employers in metropolitan Adelaide will be involved in recruiting 24 participants to take part in the Clip Joint Education Salon Connected Pre-Apprenticeship project.

Through apprenticeship ready courses, students can try out careers and gain valuable experience before committing to an apprenticeship.

In this project, participants will study a Certificate II in Salon Assistant and gain work experience and on the job mentoring to prepare them to start a hairdressing apprenticeship.

The project aims to increase apprenticeship retention levels by matching participants with salons, and ensuring they understand and enjoy working in a salon environment before beginning their skilled career.
