Hairdressing pre-apprenticeship program

A new industry-driven hairdressing pre-apprenticeship program is being designed with South Australian salons to help attract and retain apprentices across the sector.

Employers in metropolitan Adelaide will be involved in recruiting 24 participants to take part in the Clip Joint Education Salon Connected Pre-Apprenticeship project.

Through this Skilling South Australia project, participants will study a Certificate II in Salon Assistant and gain work experience and on the job mentoring to prepare them to commence a hairdressing apprenticeship.

The project aims to increase apprenticeship retention levels by matching participants with salons, and ensuring they understand and enjoy working in a salon environment before beginning their skilled career.
