Fifteen South Australians are set to start apprenticeships in the landscaping sector, after graduating from an industry-led training project.
Master Landscapers of South Australia (MLSA) mentored participants who will be assisted into apprenticeships through a partnership with TAFE SA and industry sponsors.
Participants of the nine-week intensive apprenticeship pathway project completed units of competency from qualifications in the agriculture, horticulture and conservation and land management training package.
Employer and industry supplier visits have also formed part of the Introduction to Landscaping project, exposing participants to job opportunities within the sector, including:
landscape design and construction
greens keeper (e.g. on a golf course)
lecturer or trainer in the industry
landscaping business owner/employer.
