Public sector Skilling South Australia Project

Underway

Fifteen South Australians are set to start their careers in the state’s landscaping sector through new apprenticeships, after graduating from an industry-led training project.

Master Landscapers of South Australia (MLSA) have provided mentoring to people who will be assisted into apprenticeships through a partnership with TAFE SA and industry sponsors.

People participating in the nine-week, intensive apprenticeship pathway project have completed units of competency from qualifications in the Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management training package.

Employer and industry supplier visits have also formed part of the Introduction to Landscaping project, providing participants exposure to the variety of job opportunities within the sector, such as:

  • landscape design and construction

  • site supervisor

  • greens keeper (e.g. on a golf course)

  • lecturer or trainer in the industry

  • landscaping business owner/employer.
