Carving a new path for butcher apprentices
South Australia’s meat industry has been given a boost with 30 new apprenticeships to be created through Skilling South Australia.
Through the project, participants will:
undertake an eight-week apprenticeship-ready course, followed by a two-week work placement
gain exposure to high-level butchery training and skill development at leading retail butchers in Adelaide and regional areas including Mt Gambier, Whyalla and the Adelaide Hills
be directly matched to employers and receive ongoing support while completing their apprenticeship.
The State Government is providing more than $135,000 funding for the project that aims to increase the number of skilled workers entering the meat industry.
