What Skilling South Australia means for students and career seekers

  • More than 20,800 new apprenticeships and traineeships so more South Australians can learn valuable, practical skills in the workplace and build careers.

  • Flexible apprenticeships for school students so you can combine South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) and training.

  • Additional Learner Support Services to help you stick with your course and successfully finish your qualification.

  • New facilities for you to train in - an international school of culinary excellence at Lot Fourteen, a new technical college in Adelaide’s north-west and a new welding simulator centre at TAFE SA’s Regency Campus.

  • Increase of nearly double the average Travel and Accommodation Allowance for regional apprentices and trainees to help you with the cost of attending training.

  • More than 700 apprenticeships and traineeships qualifications on the Subsidised Training List, almost double the previous amount.

  • Support to buy equipment when cost is a barrier to your training.

  • A multifaceted marketing campaign to change perceptions and shift how people see apprenticeships and promote them as a first-choice career option that can achieve rewarding, well-paid and transferable careers with lots of opportunities to move up. We are working with students, parents and schools to get this message out.
